For more than a year I have been using the Dogtrace electronic invisible fence d-fence 202 (with display and backup battery) in my rugged garden (length of installation around the perimeter approx. 250 m).
Previously, my somewhat peculiar, massive East European Shepherd (68 cm at withers, 50 kg) had a tendency to seek out weak spots in fences and go on walks alone in the neighborhood. However, a few stimulation impulses from the collar (set to half intensity) and he quickly learned to respect the demarcated zones within the property boundary.
Advice and experience of Mr. Hálek
After a period of 6 months from initial commissioning or previous battery replacement, it is important to check that the collar is still emitting an acoustic signal at the zone boundary wire. If not, the battery in the collar must be replaced, otherwise the dog may eventually appear in the restricted zone. Although there is a battery indicator on the collar, its function depends on many factors and cannot be relied upon exclusively. In practice, it serves more for the correct fitting of the collar (with the indicator light in front), because the d-fence inscription disappears from the collar after a few months of use.
It is also advisable to check occasionally on the display of the transmitting energizer whether the mains power supply is working and the backup battery is being recharged. In the event of a mains power failure, the battery will keep the device operational for several hours. Once the battery is fully discharged and the mains power supply is restored, the energizer only needs to be switched on.If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the producer directly, who will advise you quickly and helpfully.
